Following her graduation from high school Contractor accepted a scholarship at the University of Toronto to pursue the dual field of sociology and psychology. In addition, she obtained a master's degree in Theater. After one semester at the University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the show Pericles at the world-class famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. In 2002, Canadian theater critics were awed by her performance during 92 performances of Pericles. The opportunity was presented to her to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory. The school accepts only eight men and four women to study the art of classical theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor was offered a place for the next season and was given the part of Hermia.
